In the futuristic setting of the Italian Pavilion in Shanghai, built for the Shanghai Expo 2010, an exhibition will be held from 28 April 2012 to 31 January 2013, entitled "Tradition and Innovation. Italy in China", organized by the Milan Triennale in collaboration with Shanghai Expo Group.

Divided into seven sections, the exhibition will offer the Chinese audience an overview of Italian technology, art, crafts, fashion and design, in relation to Chinese culture, tradition and modernity, concentrating on the aspects shared by these two age-old cultures.

Among the objects a large, sparkling Hope lamp stands out as an icon of contemporary lighting, selected together with other products to demonstrate the link between tradition and innovation and to create a luminous setting in the section "The Peninsula of Light", which narrates Italian history and culture through scenes and fragments of great Italian cinema.
